Statement for election to the position of Secretary/Treasurer

 

 

 

I have greatly enjoyed my involvement as a member of the Board of Directors of ISH since 2009 and in particular, my role as Secretary of the COR and would be very happy to continue in this role if that was the wish of the membership.

However, I have been nominated for the important position of Secretary/Treasurer and am honoured to accept that nomination.

I believe that I have both the knowledge and the experience to discharge the duties associated with this very important role.

I have been on the Board of ISH for 14 years and for many of those years was the Secretary of the COR In addition I have also been a Past President and Past Secretary and Treasurer of my own national and state organisations. I have an in-depth understanding of all aspects of the functioning of ISH and the duties associated with the role of Secretary/Treasurer

in addition to my organisational experience. I also have the professional skills and knowledge to carry out both aspects of the role effectively. My first career was as an Accountant and Auditor. During my studies in this area. I obtained significant knowledge about various aspects of law and constitutions as well as Accounting

If elected, I would continue to maintain the high standard that has been set by our current Secretary/ Treasurer Enayat Shahidi. The excellent financial control that we have seen on his watch is one of the major reasons that ISH is in its current strong financial position.

I would also seek other ways of increasing the income stream of ISH in between our Congresses. The Master Class series is an excellent example of the type of project that we need. It has been highly successful and I would seek to expand it even further.

In addition, I would continue the initiative, I started with the formation of the Trance World Task Force. Its focus is to provide low-cost or no cost training to those parts of the world where ISH is under represented. The first part of this program is already underway in South America. Our aim is to build not only Bridges of Understanding but also Bridges of Knowledge.

Should Enayat be re-elected as Secretary/Treasurer he would, of course, have my complete loyalty and support in that very important role. If this were to be the case then I would be happy to continue in my current role as the Secretary of the COR if that were the wish of the membership.

A letter from the heart to renew my commitment to the ISH

 

 

 

 

 

Dear esteemed ISH members,

Being nominated for the ISH Secretary/Treasurer for the third run is a profound honor.

My story started thirty years ago when, as an intern in a psychiatric hospital at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, I saw a poster of a hypnotherapy course and immediately registered for it. It was the beginning of a long, beautiful journey. From then on, I have always lived with hypnosis, both in my professional career and personal life.

I gradually developed my contribution to hypnosis and have been vice president, treasurer, and chair of the International Affairs Committee of the Iranian Scientific Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ISSCH) since 2011. Nevertheless, spreading scientific hypnosis worldwide and making an international contribution to the field have always been pleasant dreams of mine. To start with, I presented our society’s activities at a live ISH BOD meeting in Istanbul and helped it be accepted as an ISH Constituent Society in 2012.

2015 feels like a whisper ago, yet the thread ties my story to yours. Back then, you trusted me as an ISH Board member, the field that had transformed my life. Three years later, in 2018, you expanded your trust and elected me as the Secretary/Treasurer, a service I am still enthusiastically implementing.

So, I am honored to have been part of the great teams of three recent ISH BODs and to work with distinguished presidents like Julie Linden, Claude Virot, Bernhard Trenkle, and Mark Jensen. Fortunately, our competent administrative body works well to cover the members’ needs and achieve the objectives. Following a successful congress in Krakow, I am sure the ISH will go even further under Kris Klajs’s leadership.

That honor bestowed upon me in 2021 felt like a dream come true. Chairing the Education and Training Committee empowered me to channel my passion for learning into the ISH Monthly Masterclass Webinar series, a platform for renowned experts to share their insights and inspire our global community. The series has been continued uninterruptedly since November 2021. Witnessing the enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from members across continents has been truly humbling, reaffirming the crucial role of education in our field.

The pandemic not only stole some of our best colleagues and friends, but it also made our triennial congress, a cornerstone of our financial stability, canceled in 2021. Yet, amidst the uncertainty, with the collaboration of all BOD members, I, as the treasurer, held the reins tight. With meticulous budgeting, careful planning, saving up on expenses, creating more revenue by masterclass series, and increasing the number of members, the ISH remained in a stable financial situation, emerged unscathed and stable, its financial compass pointing true north.

There was a lot of work I always liked to do. When the BOD, including the current President and the incoming President-Elect, asked me to stay as secretary/treasurer, accepting the nomination was easy.

Whether you choose me or my competent friend, Brian Allen, I believe the substructures are already set for ISH to keep going forward and remain strong, financially and structurally.

My role as the Secretary/Treasurer has been more than just managing finances and directing the administrative body. It has been about fostering connections, building bridges of understanding, and ensuring transparency in our operations. I believe in the power of collaboration and strive to create an environment where every member feels heard, valued, and empowered to contribute to the ISH’s success.

That’s the vision I offer, not just spreadsheets and budgets but a heart committed to nurturing the ISH community as the Secretary/Treasurer. It’s about ensuring every member has access to the resources they need. It’s about listening to your concerns, announcing and celebrating your achievements, and ensuring the spirit of our society remains vibrant and alive.
